Septorhinoplasty

Septorhinoplasty - When Breathing and Aesthetics are in Harmony

Rhinoplasty combines the highest precision, comprehensive functional knowledge, and aesthetic sensitivity. A nose must not only look good but also function optimally – balancing both is a challenge that I have passionately embraced for over 20 years.

As an ENT specialist with a surgical focus, I pay special attention to preserving and restoring nasal function. Because a beautiful nose is of little value if it cannot breathe. Therefore, I combine modern aesthetic techniques with well-founded functional surgery – tailored individually to you and your wishes.

I have learned all common techniques of sSeptorhinoplasty from the ground up and refined them over the years. Whether structural septorhinoplasty, dorsal preservation techniques (Preservation Rhinoplasty), or hybrid procedures – I always use the method that is most suitable for your anatomy and your goals. Various instruments and technologies are employed: classic chisels, finely tuned files, precision drills, and modern ultrasonic scalpels (Piezo Technology) allow for particularly gentle and precise work.

Frequently Asked Questions about Septorhinoplasty

How long does it take to heal after a nose surgery?

Visible swelling usually subsides after 2–3 weeks. However, the final result often becomes apparent only after 6–12 months, as the tissue slowly reorganizes.

Is the operation painful?

Many patients report surprisingly little pain. A feeling of tension or slight pressure sensitivity is more common than actual pain.

Will my breathing remain intact after the operation?

Immediately after the operation, soft silicone splints are placed in the nose, equipped with integrated breathing tubes. This usually allows for restricted but possible nasal breathing. We do not use tampons. Important: The nose must be regularly cared for and rinsed after the operation. The splints are usually removed after one week, along with the external splint on the nose. Other stitches on the nose typically dissolve on their own or are also removed after about a week, depending on the technique.

When can I return to social activities?

After about 10–14 days – once the external splint has been removed and initial swelling has subsided – you can usually return to social activities, possibly with some makeup.

Does the health insurance cover the costs?

Functional procedures on the nasal septum (septum) are usually covered by statutory or private health insurance. However, the plastic-aesthetic component must be paid for privately.

How severe are bruising and swelling after the operation?

The use of the ultrasonic scalpel (Piezo technology) results in only minor or no bruising for most patients. However, swelling remains common and can persist, especially in the area of the nose tip, for several weeks to months.

Can the future result be simulated on a computer?

A computer simulation can help discuss ideas and wishes, but it does not represent a binding result. Important: Not every desired shape can be achieved from every nose.

Is the operation performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis?

In our clinic, rhinoplasties are usually performed on an inpatient basis. The stay typically lasts two days.
